Afrobeat musician Burna Boy has been in getting a lot of negative criticism from some South African social media users supposedly because of his comments to AKA. In November, it was announced that South African musicians were against the artist performing at the upcoming ‘Africa Unite’ concert. However, one person is backing the ‘African Giant’ artist, Economic Freedom Fighters leader Julius Malema.
The leader went on to Twitter on Thursday saying that he is looking forward to seeing the artist. He also said that no mascot can stop the artist from performing. “Looking forward to receiving and being entertained by my brother [Burna Boy] here at his home called South Africa. There’s no mascot that can stop him from performing, he’s one of our own and we will protect him. We must resolutely oppose regionalism led by political illiterates,” says Julius Malema.
“I won’t be intimidated or blackmailed by bed weting boys, welcome home [Burna Boy]. South Africa is home for all Africans, kill me for defending an African brother, bloody Cowards,” says the Economic Freedom Fighters leader. However, SA tweeps felt as if he is standing up for Burna Boy because he has an agenda. One tweep says, “This guy doesn’t love this country, he never stands up for this nation. He’s pushing his agenda against unity and supporting an egoistic artist who said s**t about our country and it’s people.” One tweep says, “imagine being so childish that when people disagree with you you have to resort to insults because you cannot justify your position …….Your Leader.”
