The former public protector, Thuli Madonsela, has announced that she wants to issue a lawsuit for a person on Twitter. The person claimed that Thuli Madonsela was a spy that was remunerated by American investor George Soros. The former public protector announced this after she was given an honorary law doctorate by the University of KwaZulu-Natal for her battle against corruption during her time as a public protector.
She says that she be making an example of the supposed Twitter troll. “I am about to make an example of someone who tweeted on August 10 that I am a spy paid by George Soros, among other,” says Thuli Madonsela at the graduation event held at the University of Westville. She says that she plans on giving the funds to the Action for Inclusion Fund, a fund that ensures that students do not have issues with finances in 2019.
The former public protector is not ready to announce the name of the person that she is issuing a lawsuit for, which she’ll do after she has submitted the court papers. “As soon as I have filed the court papers then we will indicate who the person is,” says Thuli Madonsela. She stated that the amount she is suing for is above R500 000. She says that the mess the person caused to her reputation is more than R500 000.
