On Tuesday 15 March 2022 Tierpoort Visible Policing members arrested the 24-year-old White male for possession of unlicensed firearm and ammunition. The members were busy with crime prevention activities and stopped a brown Volkswagen Caravelle on N6 National Road between Bloemfontein and Reddersburg.
The police approached the suspect and asked for permission to search him and the motor vehicle. The suspect had a firearm holstered on his waist and the members requested to see his firearm license. The suspect alleged that he forgot it at home in Hospitaalpark, Bloemfontein. A call was made to ascertain if the suspect does have a firearm license but the Flash Liquor and Second Hands Goods (FLASH) office confirmed that the 24-year-old suspect has no firearm license issued in his name.
The police arrested the suspect and a case docket was then opened at Tierpoort Police Station. The pistol and six (6) live rounds were seized. The suspect will appear in Bloemfontein Magistrate Court on Thursday 17 March 2022.
