Gautrain Passengers Frustrated As It Cannot Go To Some Places. The passengers were told that the trains were not operating in those areas because of the electricity outage.
Friday hasn’t really been a good day for some Gautrain users as they could not get to work or to any institution on time because the trains from Midrand to Park Station, Sandton to OR Tambo. The passengers were told that the trains were not operating in those areas because of the electricity outage. Some of the passengers were hurt by the inconvenience as they had to look for other forms of transportation.
“Due to a power outage, there is no train service between Midrand and Park stations & no trains from Sandton to OR Tambo. We urge passengers to make alternate transport arrangements until further notice,” says Gautrain on Twitter. One tweep says, “I feel like crying!!! [Gautrain] really F’d up this morning. This is beyond a “technical faults”…Stuck in Midrand…” One tweep says, “Issa mess here by Gautrain Midrand. South bound trains from Midrand not moving due to power failure…”
One tweep says, “No Gautrain between Midrand and Park …My day has been ruined because those people are going to drive today. I had happily parted ways with Gautrain because it can be unreliable but I hoped many stay with it for the sake of traffic.” One tweep had to go fetch one of her fellow colleagues at the station. The tweep says, “My colleague was stuck at Midrand Gautrain station, had to go pick her up so we can travel together to work. It was a mess! Can’t imagine how people without alternative are going [through]. The train company has just announced that the power has been restored, which means the station is fully functioning.
