One tweep posted the tweet of one other tweep with the handle name @AccordingToSino. The tweep posted a tweet that suggested that people by the age of 28 years should be getting over R60 000 per month. The tweep who reposted the tweet wasn’t happy at all.
“I can’t believe 28 year olds aren’t walking around with 60k net month end. Wtf. What’s the point then. What does an average 28 year old earn…? Women vs men also,” says the tweep. The person who reposted the tweet says, “You acting @AccordingToSino you know for a fact most South Africans pay peanuts you just want to make yourself look shook because you get that amount of money.” Little did she know, the tweeps was talking as part of the 28-year-olds that are struggling for R60 000.
On her original twitter account, the tweep says that she was made to believe that if she did honours in her qualification and get almost all of her needs covered by the age of 25. “It’s really sad and on dawning on me now that my most basic dream is not possible. I was made to believe that if I go to university, do an honours in BSC, get a job, I would afford medical aid, house, car and holidays by 25+. It’s just sad that at 28, I can estimate 60k for that,” says the tweep.”
Other tweeps replied to her other tweet. One tweep says, “Science, engineering, accounting and social sciences degrees only pay when you have donkey years of experience. Business, Management and Finance pay early depending on [the] industry or organisation.” One tweep says even with a experience some people don’t get R60 000 per month. The tweep says, “Some of us have bent over for qualifications, hustled and gained as much experience in our respective industries for at least 6 years. 60k a month is still a dream.”
