Hero Nurse Drove For A Whole Night To Help A Patient. Cally’s family members were also ecstatic when they heard the news.
Last month, a nurse by the name of Salome Siebritz, did a wonderful for her patients. The nurse personally accompanied two kidney implant people that she knew from her workplace. The female drove the whole evening from Eastern Cape to Western Cape for her patients to get the kidneys they need.
According to News24, Salome Siebritz says that she got the call at approximately 6pm when she came from her job. She got the call that one of her favourite victims was able to receive a kidney implant. She says that she got a call from her colleagues to tell her about the incident.
Salome Siebritz says, “At the time I couldn’t think clearly. I was so excited. I started screaming, ‘Cally’s getting a kidney, Cally’s getting a kidney!”
Cally’s family members were also ecstatic when they heard the news. The happiness that people had was then brought to a low when there were transport issues. Due to this incident, the nurse chose to hit the pedal for 800km for the implants to be undertaken. A workmate of Salome Siebritz asked the public of Uitenhange to please donate for the trip. Salome says that the people of Uitenhange are very supportive of each other.
“People responded immediately- from colleagues and their extended families to the cleaning stuff and patient,” says Salome Siebritz. The nurse was changing driving shifts with Cally’s aunt, Mercia Williams. Cally and the other kidney implant receiver were sleeping in the back of the car.
Salome and Mercia were lead into Cristiaan Barnard Hospital, the two women also had food plans made for them. She says that she didn’t even know that she was still wearing slippers until they got to the hospital. She says that she was relieved when she saw the other nurses take Cally in to be ready for the operation.
