NELSPRUIT – Three suspects aged between 24 and 31 are expected to appear before the Bethal Magistrate’s Court on Monday, 01 August 2022, for possession of suspected stolen vehicle. The suspects were arrested yesterday, 28 July 2022 at Bethal Mall.
According to the report, police were alerted by security guards at Bethal Mall about the suspicious vehicle, a white Volkswagen Jetta parked in the parking area. They (police) then swiftly attended to the complaint and on arrival the security guards pointed them to the said vehicle, there were no occupants inside and police waited for the occupants to return.
They returned and when they were about to drive off, police stopped them and an inquiry on the vehicle was made. The police discovered that the vehicle was reported stolen in a carjacking and murder incident in Gauteng at Dawn Park. The three suspects, two females and one male were then arrested on charges of being in possession of suspected stolen property. The suspects could possibly be linked to the case of hijacking and murder.
The Provincial Commissioner of the SAPS in Mpumalanga, Lieutenant General Semakaleng Daphney Manamela has lauded the collaborative effort between the security officers and police. “Credit must be given to security officers for notifying police about the suspicious vehicle and we also commend the members for acting quickly in recovering the vehicle which was previously stolen.
