Johannesburg Metro Police Department Officials Go Back To Training Because They Lack Skills. Over 1000 Johannesburg Metro Police officials have been taken back to training.
Over 1000 Johannesburg Metro Police officials have been taken back to training. This is due to the officials’ inability to do some of the tasks that they were trained to do such as handling a gun. The Johannesburg Metro Police Department officials got their certificates from the City of Johannesburg training academy in 2019.
The police officials have been sent back so that that they could rework on their skills after being trained for 18 months. Wayne Minnaar, the Johannesburg Metro Police Department spokesperson, the training was a part of the internal training requirements to modify the skills that the recruited officials had less of. On top of the officials that could not control guns, some of them could not direct traffic at the intersections. The police spokesperson says it took more than the minimum 18 months to fully train an officer.
“We have sent them back to the academy because they lack some basic requirements. All our officers are not the same and don’t have similar skills and talents,” says Wayne Minnaar. The police spokesperson acknowledges that some needed to be trained in the operation of firearms, driving and traffic control. He stated that not all officials were good in handling guns and its an ongoing process.
