#KFCProposal Contributor Speaks About How They Were Supposedly Excluded From The Event By A Chicken Restraurant. The KFC wedding proposal was one of the most loved moments in South Africa in 2019, it even made it global with the amounts of people willing to contribute to the event.
The KFC wedding proposal was one of the most loved moments in South Africa in 2019, it even made it global with the amounts of people willing to contribute to the event. However, the happiness ended at a certain point for some people. One of the people that tried organising certain things for the famous KFC couple went on to Twitter to speak about a certain issue they currently have. The man said they had an issue with a ‘chicken restaurant’, which most people think might be KFC.
The man reminded people that he, Sindi van Zyl and Joe Human were involved in the event from the start. The man went on to remind people about how people gathered to contribute. There were then issues went they tried to tell the couple what people were willing to contribute to them. “[Joe Human] and I decide to head straight to the couple to tell them what you guys were prepared to offer. But while we we’re on our way there, we get a call from the chicken people telling us to “hang ten” because this is “their” initiative.” He then went on to say that the people told them that they want to speak to the couple before they could.
“We find the chicken gang already waiting for us at the rendezvous location and they decided they’d like to speak to the couple BEFORE we could speak to them. “For their safety and privacy.” So [Joe Human] and I didn’t really get a chance to speak to said couple…When that meeting was done, I was explicit to the couple and stressed the fact that we will not force a wedding on them and they don’t need to work with [Joe Human] and I if they don’t want to. But we are glad that the country wants to help them celebrate.” He then says the ‘chicken gang’ told them that they would keep in touch with them.
“All sorts of brands were DMing us and news outlets wanted interviews left right and centre…it was havoc…But we chose not to disclose anything because we wanted to respect the couples wishes. A week later we followed up with the couple and they asked that all questions and queries be sent to the chicken crew because they were managing everything at this point…Chicken crew said they are drafting contracts to make sure everyone is protected.” The man says that all of a sudden the couple is all over the media. “…the couple is now doing photo shoots, media interviews, Instagram accounts even attending the derby and taking selfies with the chicken gang. The whole 9 yards…What about space? What about privacy,” says the man.
“[Joe Human] decided to release an official statement of the state of affairs at that time…Next thing we’re getting calls from everyone at the chicken place asking us why we tweeted that stuff and we we’re being these people. I told them “guys, you’ve beeeen quiet and said nothing all along” they asked for more time. What’s frustrating with all of this is that our integrity is now being questioned by all the brands that offered to participate and all of you who liked and retweeted. I tried calling them last week and still didn’t get a way forward, even though there’s already a date.”
“Clearly there’s a wedding taking place and we have been left out of the loop. Again: we aren’t forcing ourselves on the couple. If they don’t want to work with is that’s fine. But the chicken crew shouldn’t be a doorkeeper all in the name of “privacy and protection”…I’m not sure who is looking into the best interests for the couple at this point and I don’t even know if we’ll be allowed to be part of the celebrations. I really wish them an amazing wedding day. They are sooo sweet. I just wish the chicken gang played fair on this one,” says the Twitter user.
