KING WILLIAMS TOWN – A 33-year-old suspect is expected to appear in the Sterkspruit Magistrates Court soon following his arrest for the alleged murder of a 44-year-old mother and her 20-year-old daughter at Tienbank locality, Sterkspruit between 29 and 30 October 2020.
It is alleged that both women were last seen at their place of residence on 29 November 2020 at about 20:00. The following day, 30 October 2020 at about 07:00, the neighbour went to the deceased’s home and she noticed blood stains on the outside of the door and immediately informed some of the elderly people and police were called.
Upon arrival at the scene, SAPS members discovered the two female bodies with several stabbed wounds on their upper bodies.
Due to the effective and efficient application of investigation skills by the detectives, leads were followed up and led to the arrest of the suspect who is believed to be the boyfriend of the young girl. The suspect was arrested at another location in the Sterkspruit area.
He is expected to appear in the Sterkspruit Magistrate Court today facing two (2) murder charges.
The Eastern Cape Acting Provincial Commissioner, Major General Thembisile Patekile condemned the killing of the defenceless victims and advised community members who might be facing domestic challenges or strained relationships, to seek professional help instead of resorting to violence.
