A 17-year-old learner was sentenced to 12 years imprisonment before Kathu high court today, for fatally stabbing a teacher.
On 12 January 2019, the accused fatally stabbed his teacher with a knife at Manyeding village after he failed Grade 7.
When giving judgment the judge emphasized that this sentence will send a strong message to other young people that once you commit crime you will have to be punished and account for your crimes.
The investigating officer, Constable Boitumelo Motsetse is also happy with the conviction as he worked tirelessly in order to ensure that justice is done. The cluster Commander of John Taolo Gaetsewe, Major General Johan Bean applauded Constable Motsetse for his dedication and hard work. He further complimented community members who were witnesses to this case because through their testimonies justice was finally done.
