Lesotho Woman Almost Got Wrongly Diagnosed Due To Ebola Simulation Exercise. On Thursday it was stated that a woman that was supposedly diagnosed with the Ebola virus.
On Thursday it was stated that a woman that was supposedly diagnosed with the Ebola virus. When the woman was asked questions, she said that she started getting the signs of the virus after she came into contact with a person she claims was from the Democratic Republic of Congo in Johannesburg. The incident was thus reported as the first incident of Ebola in Lesotho.
The woman was taken to the TB isolation ward in Motebang Hospital where her urine and blood were tested in a Johannesburg virology lab, which concluded positive in the Ebola virus. The health authorities were notified about a woman who was seen showing the signs that are associated with Ebola. The issue was acknowledged by Lesotho’s Minister of Health Nkaku Kabi. The virus was reportedly stated to have moved expanded in Lesotho and South Africa.
However, the International Health Regulations organisation stated that a simulation of the Ebola Virus Disease has been undergoing and that the actual virus was not around. “This was first Small Scale Field Simulation Exercise…conducted to test the preparedness and response to the PHEIC. The IHR office therefore wishes to inform the public and all other stakeholders that the minister of health will release a statement to address the outcomes of the simulation exercise…in Leribe,” says the International Health Regulations organisation.
