Lol! Black Twitter Hilariously Debates On The ConCourt’s Ruling Of Spanking Children #SpankAChildOrNot. On Wednesday, the Constitutional Court has ruled that the spanking of children in homes will be declared as illegal.
On Wednesday, the Constitutional Court has ruled that the spanking of children in homes will be declared as illegal. The Constitutional Court was endorsing the South Gauteng High Court ruling of corporal punishment in homes in 2017 in a case where a father was found guilty of assaulting his daughter for watching porn. The court stated that there are other effective manners of disciplining children other than spanking the child.
Black Twitter did not really like the ruling that the court brought about, with some of them hilariously saying that their children should just go live at the Constitutional Court. The tweeps used the hashtag #SpankAChildOrNot. One tweep says, “SA must prepare for a rise in the number of street kids.” One tweep says, “I did not grow up to be this old whilst taking notes from my elders whenever they used to discipline on how I’ll discipline my own children one day just to be told by a stupid law that I can’t do that anymore…” One tweep says, “…imagine having a criminal record for spanking your OWN CHILD. South Africa has weird priorities.”
One tweep says, “Black moms looking at their children saying “My house, my rules”…” One tweep says, “Can someone please direct me to Chief Justice Mogoeng Mogoeng’s house, I wanna go drop off my kids…” One tweep agrees with the ruling, his tweet was accompanied by a face of a crying child. The tweep says, “…do you want to see this kind of a face from your child because of you? Nah guys, let’s not spank our children!!!”
