WESTERN CAPE – The swift response by Maitland Flying Squad members resulted in the arrest of five suspects involved in a business robbery in Observatory.
Last night, 2020-07-10, members of Maitland Flying Squad followed up information of a VW Jetta that was involved in a business robbery in Observatory.
The vehicle was pulled over in Athlone area and five suspects aged 23, 26, 26, 27 and 37 were arrested and detained at Woodstock SAPS.
The members seized a firearm, with the serial number filed off, one magazine and ammunition. One suspect was also found in possession of a gas pistol. An undisclosed amount of cash and 10 cellular telephones were found in the vehicle and seized.
Further investigation indicated that the vehicle was also involved in a robbery in Claremont on Thursday, 2020-07-09 where a fire arm was robbed from a security official.
The suspects are due to appear in the Cape Town Magistrates Court on Monday, 2020-07-13 on the mentioned charges.
