Man Dared Into Driving His Car Into KZN Ocean. The beachgoers were left shocked when the man drove his car into the ocean.
It was a nice day out for some beachgoers at the Shelley Beach on Monday in KwaZulu-Natal, then suddenly a man drove his car into the ocean. The beachgoers were left shocked when the man drove his car into the ocean. He drove his car in the ocean as part of a dare by one of his friends. A CCTV video recording from the beach’s ski-boat club shows the man, who is allegedly from the Free State, driving his green VW Golf at a high speed right into the ocean.
A secretary from the ski-boat club, Brenda Johnson, was a witness to the man’s dare. Brenda Johnson told Sowetan Live that the man had a huge crowd of people surrounding the scene at 1pm. “He just drove straight into the ocean. Initially I heard it was a suicide attempt, later it was established that the man was dared by a friend to drive his car into the sea,” says Brenda Johnson. The secretary noted that the man walked out of the car without an injury.
“He walked out unhurt. It wasn’t very deep but the waves were much more powerful than his Golf,” says the ski-boat club secretary. The police and paramedics got to the place; a local tow-truck company dragged the car out of the ocean, while the man went missing in action. The police impounded the car as it had no license disc attached to it, the police just know that the car is from the Free State. According to Johnson the man walked away as if nothing happened at the scene.
