Man Gives Back A Large Sum Of Money That He Found In A Second-Hand Item. Being honest has quite a good outcome.
Being honest has quite a good outcome. A man was thanked when he found about R500 000 in a second hand chest of drawers. The man gave the money back to the family that he bought the chest of drawers from.
The man, Peter Gavran, needed a chest of drawers to put in his new flat in Germany. He thus saw an advert online and bought the piece. He then went to the house of the seller in the city of Essen to pick up the cupboard with a friend of his. “When a friend and I came for the furniture, we didn’t notice anything strange. Even the man we bought the furniture from helped us carry it to the car because it’s massive. It was only on the staircase of my building that I noticed something rolling inside the dresser,” says Peter Gavran.
When the man opened the drawer in his flat, he found photo albums and envelopes of cash. He was shocked when he found the money inside the album. The man took a long time deciding what to do with the money, he was worried that the money might be linked to a crime somehow. The item belonged to a deceased family member whose furniture they were selling. He said he didn’t want to keep the money because it would be unhappy money for him.
