A matric couple was arrested as they came up with a scheme in order to get some money from the girl’s mother. The two teenagers faked a Kidnapping for ransom. They also swapped a sim card in order to hinder police officials; however, they were still caught by police officials.
The officials started examining the case when they got a missing person’s report in regards to the girl on the 10th of October, according to Brigadier Leonard Hlathi on Friday. The matric girl’s mother then got a message requesting ransom money. The examination cornered in on the girl’s boyfriend. The girl allegedly worked with the boyfriend, thereby allegedly using the girls phone inserted with a different SIM card to deliver the message to the mother.
The police got details on Thursday about the girl and her boyfriend, both 20 year olds, being seen together. The couple was found at the home of the boyfriend’s friend and apprehended. Brigadier Leonard Hlathi says, “The SIM card used to send the message was also found in the possession of the boyfriend.” The couple is set to appear at the Bushbuckridge Magistrate’s Court on Monday. They are reportedly charged for obstructing the ends of justice.
