CHICAGO, IL - MAY 27: Crime scene tape is stretched around the front of a home where a man was shot on May 28, 2017 in Chicago, Illinois. Chicago police have added more than 1,000 officers to the streets over the Memorial Day weekend, hoping to put a dent in crime, during what is typically one of the more violent weekends of the year. The police welcomes the sentencing that was handed down to a Mothibistad man for the murder of his brother on Tuesday, 12 February 2019. Tshepiso Manchonyane (27) was sentenced to 15 years imprisonment for stoning his brother on 04 June 2017, in Maruping village in Kururan.

On 04 June 2017 at about 2am, Tshepiso returned home and an arguement broke out between him and his brother Boitshepo Manchonyane (30). Tshepiso then started stoning Boitshepo with bricks.

The victim was admitted to Batlharos Hospital and died on 05 July 2017. The accused was arrested the day after the incident and was found guilty. He was sentenced on 12 February 2019 in the Mothibistad Magistrate’s Court for the murder.

The John Taolo Gaetsewe SAPS Cluster Commander, Major General Johan Bean commended the Investigation Officer Detective Warrant Officer Kenneth Basekiseng of Batlharos Detectives for a job well done. We trust that this sentencing leaves our society safer and more secure.
