The highly controversial Moja Love show ‘Uyajola 9/9’ is said to be taking a break off our screens. The show made rounds in the news for the show’s episode last week, this is after an episode that had strong language and violence had people in outrage. The show featured a lady who beat up her husband for cheating.
In the episode another woman, who he was having an affair with, also joined in the woman’s outrage. The husband didn’t receive support only later on after he was confronted. Lindiwe Mbonambi, the spokesperson of Moja Love, told Isolezwe in a statement that the show has been removed from airing on screen starting from this week Sunday. The channel’s spokesperson says that the choice has nothing to do with the arguments of strong language and violence that was showed on-screen.
She states that the production organisation has decided to take a short break from filming for some time. “It doesn’t mean that it is the end of the show because of people’s complaints to the BCCSA. The production company has chosen to take a short break from filming as they have been doing it for some time,” says Lindiwe Mbonambi. She states that ‘Uyajola 9/9’ would be back on screens but she didn’t specify the date. Shouneez Martin, the Broadcasting Complaints Comission of South Africa’s registrar, says they have sent the complaints to Multichoice and they are still waiting for a reply.
“Whilst we do not exercise editorial control over third-party channels, which have fully independent editorial and content policies, we are in discussions with the channel about this particular complaint and will respond accordingly to the BCCSA,” says Joe Heshu, the Multichoice group executive for corporate affairs. The show is hosted by Jub Jub and Moss Makwati.
