Weddings tend to be really expensive, if someone offered to pay for your wedding that would be awesome. But what if the person who’s paying for your wedding has a condition in exchange for paying for your wedding? Well, one social media user didn’t have to imagine the situation because it happened to her and her fiance.
The social media user went on to speak about how her mother-in-law offered to pay for the wedding and plan for the wedding. The bride-to-be also went on saying that she just let the mother-in-law do what she wanted with the wedding preparations. “My fiance’s mother has been generous enough to foo the bill for the entire wedding since she’s mainly the one who wanted it to be a large affair anyway. I’ve let her have free reign with the planning and she’s allowed to invite whoever she wants as I don’t have may family members, and my fiancé keeps his friend circle very small,” says the social media user.
She went on to say that they wanted to elope but they decided to make the mother-in-law by having a huge wedding. Everything was going well till out of nowhere the mother gave her and her fiancé a contract stating that the couple is only allowed to have one child in the marriage. That was the condition that was stipulated in order for her to pay for the wedding. “As the wedding is getting closer, MIL suddenly presented us with a contract stating that I am only allowed to have one child and must immediately get on contraception after his/her birth. I have never heard of anyone being in a remotely similar situation to this before and I am pretty sure it has no legal standing at all,” says the social media user.
The bride-to-be didn’t think about how many children she wanted to have once they are married. However, she doesn’t want her choice to be made based on a single person’s choice. She also couldn’t really stop the wedding from happening because it has already been paid for. “…while we are grateful, my fiancé and I were planning on eloping to begin with since we couldn’t afford it and had no desire to have a large celebration,” says the bride-to-be. She went on to say that her man thinks that the mother will get over the contract.
