Murder Suspect Smokes Weed And Uses Illegal Steriods. The 25-year-old told the court that he smoked weed everyday so that he could concentrate at the gym.
The Cape Town man who killed his friend’s mother was a gym freak. The man acknowledged that he used to inject himself with illegal steroids. The Cape Town High Court charged the 25-year-old man, Regard Groenewald for murdering his friend’s mother, 52-year-old Hilary van Rooyen at her house in Durbanville two year ago.
The 25-year-old told the court that he smoked weed everyday so that he could concentrate at the gym. He also told the court that he injected illegal steroids. His drug taking is written more on a 31-page statement given by judge Derek Wille.
The judgement says, “the accused used cannabis for the first time at the end of his school career in 2012. According to him, he uses cannabis daily.” The judge states that the accused would smoke the weed through a bong. Groenewald stated that the weed would help him relax and allow him to focus on his gym training. The side effect that he stated was anxiety.
Either than smoke weed, the 25-year-old also used a pre-workout product by the name of “shotgun”. The judgement says, “Prior to to this time, the accused has been on a cycle of taking testosterone-based steroids. These steroids are unregulated and illegal and are taken by way of an injection. They are taken on a period of 10 weeks and a post-steroid recovery period is thereafter recommended.”
Regard said that he beat up the 52-year-old woman because she was pushing herself onto him. The man said that when he didn’t want her advances she then threatened to tell his girlfriend that he was sexually advancing towards her. It was stated that the man beat up the lady with his hands and then he bashed her with a vase.
