Mzansi Reacts To Cops Standing As People Take Stock From Truck. There has been a lot of looting going on in South Africa this year (2019).
There has been a lot of looting going on in South Africa this year (2019). Truck drivers have been injured or they died because of people trying to take what was on the truck. Yesterday (Sunday), a video recording made rounds on social media.
The video showed people taking whatever they wanted from a truck that was laying sideways. They police officers that were at the scene just stood as the people took whatever they wanted from the truck. Social media users reacted to the way the police officers acted towards the incident.
One social media user made a joke about the incident saying that’s how South Africans shop. The social media user said: “Shopping South African style.” One social media user laid his frustration at the South African police. The social media user said: I have absolutely no respect for the police in this country. I have more respect for security guards.” One social media user said what the people are doing is not good because they kill truck drivers.
The social media user said: “this is getting out of hand, those truck(s) does (do) not get involve(d) in accidents, the community create accidents so they can loot…” The social media user also referenced the attack on a truck driver in Cape Town. Other social media users justified why the people are taking the goods from the truck.
One user said that the people are told to take the goods because it might take a long time to clear the roads. The user also said that companies do this because clearing roads is also expensive. One social media user said that the people should take the goods because the goods will eventually be destroyed. One social media user said: “No. Its waste anyway. No company will sell their products that have been in an accident. I see nothing wrong, the company will throw them away anyway.”
