KIMBERLEY – The South African Police Service, continues to build solid and strong policing partnerships with the communities to strengthen community policing relationships in the fight against crime. On Friday, 05 August 2022 community members in Namakwa District converged at the Drop in Centre in Port Nolloth to participate in the launch of community in blue.
The South African Police Service in the Northern Cape, the Department of Transport Safety and Liaison, the Provincial Community Policing Board including other sub structures which includes faith based organisations, schools and community successfully participated in the launch. Over hundred community members were officially inaugurated and received blue reflector jackets and baseball caps which they will wear as uniform during patrols in their respective communities.
In his address the Acting Deputy Provincial Commissioner for Visible Police, Brigadier Hennie Van Rensberg congratulated and applauded community members for offering their services by partnering with the South African Police Service in their endeavours to combat crime. He continued to reassure necessary support to community members and made a clarion call to all community members to join the community in blue. Mr Manamela from the Department of Transport Safety and Liaison indicated that the launch of community blue will be rolled out to other four remaining districts.
The Northern Cape Provincial Community Policing Board, Chairperson, Mr Homan also encouraged the community to participate in the fight against crime.
