GAUTENG – The newly trained Constables who have recently graduated from different South African Police Service (SAPS) academies are hitting the ground running. On Tuesday, 20 December 2022 two of the newly trained constables based at SAPS Randfontein arrested a suspect at a local taxi rank in Mohlakeng and recovered suspected stolen property found in his possession. The members were reportedly conducting foot patrols at Umphakati Mall in Mohlakeng when they noticed a suspicious-looking man near the taxi rank. A search led the Constables to recover a knife and a wallet containing various cards including bank cards belonging to two different persons. The Constables also found a lay-by receipt from a retail store containing the personal details of another person. This person was immediately contacted who then indicated to the constables that she opened a case at Randfontein police station after she was robbed on Friday, 16 December 2022. The suspect was subsequently arrested and expected to appear before the Randfontein Magistrates’ court. Ends |
