NORTH WEST – Three male suspects aged 23, 32 and 43 are appearing in the Orkney Magistrates’ Court today, for illegal possession of firearms and ammunition.
The trio’s court appearance came after the Orkney Police apprehended them on Friday night, 11 September 2020. According to reports, the suspects were nabbed after the police received information about people who were conspiring to commit armed robbery at Orkney. Police were on the lookout for a white Toyota Camry vehicle which the suspects were allegedly driving in, when they spotted and intercepted it while entering Orkney. Thus, the vehicle was searched and two firearms, live ammunition and two magazines were discovered and seized. The suspects were arrested and charged with illegal possession of firearms and ammunition.
The North West Provincial Commissioner, Lieutenant General Sello Kwena, congratulated Orkney police for their sterling work that led to the arrest of the suspects.
