A mathematics genius from North West has been given an investment of R2 million for an app that he created. Sylvester Manganye has created an application that would let passengers use one way to pay for different types of transportations. The 24-year-old states that the conception began in 2018 when he had to use different types of transportations in one day to head to varsity and to also visit his sister in Pretoria.
He stated that he used the bus to head to varsity and recharging was some sort of strain. “I was using the metro bus to go to school, which only allows for us to recharge at Ghandi Swuare even though it travels to so many different parts of Johannesburg,” says Sylvester Manganye. He also went on to say that when he would employ the Gautrain, he discovered that have a lot of different cards was an issue. He wants to reduce the strain of having to recharge each card separately.
“Before you go on a trip you have to make sure that you have enough value on all of your cards. But what if you have a wallet on your phone that just allowed you to use any mode of transport,” says the 24-year-old mathematics genius. The application by the name of Olova, which translates to ‘simple’ in TshiTsonga is at a mock-up phase.
