NORTHERN CAPE – The Acting Deputy Provincial Commissioner for Crime Detection, Brigadier Nicky Mills welcomes the multiple sentences that were handed down in the Calvinia Regional Court on 28 July 2022 to a 50-year-old male for rape of his biological daughter, aged 08 and a female neighbour, aged 15.
On 11 November 2013, a neighbour in Brandvlei laid a charge of rape against the 50-year-old for raping her 15-year-old daughter. He was arrested and bail was successfully opposed.
The complainant later moved out of Brandvlei and could not be traced, hence the case was withdrawn by the Senior State Prosecutor.
On 19 June 2021, his wife and mother of the 08-year-old girl laid a charge against the same accused, her husband for raping their 08-year-old daughter on multiple occasions.
The accused was arrested and the first complainant was traced in Upington and the case was placed back on the court role.
The 50-year-old male was sentenced for the rape of his 08-year-old daughter as follows:
Count 1 – 40 years
Count 2 – 40 years
Count 3 – 40 years
He was also found guilty for the rape of his 15-year-old neighbour and sentenced to another 20 years and the sentences will run concurrently.
