NORTHERN CAPE – Members of group 2 attached to the Kathu Crime Prevention unit tighten the grip on three criminals when they were caught red-handed after robbing a truck driver of his Huawei P9 cellphone valued at R6000-00.
On Wednesday, 16 December 2020 at 20:20 while conducting patrols in the greater Kathu area, Sgt Ben Eiman and Constables Blythe Jantjies and Beatrice Cachibatho apprehended three males after they allegedly robbed a truck driver in the parking area of the Kameeldoring Cafe.
The three suspects aged 24, 26 and 27 respectively were arrested and charged with robbery and will soon appear in the Kathu magistrate’s court.
The cellphone was recovered and handed over to the rightful owner.
According to the Kathu Station Commander, Lt Col Sandra Boshof, the police will clamp down on crime this festive season and adopt a zero tolerance approach.
