Media personality Penny Lebyane went on Twitter to speak about how radio has changed for probably the worst. Several years ago the media personality said radio died once television personalities were made radio hosts. One tweep replied to a post remembering what Penny said approximately 12 years ago about radio dying.
The tweep says, “Radio died the day beauty queens and kings/ TV personalities became radio hosts. @PennyLebyane told you this fact 8 years ago.” Penny replied to the post saying that house DJs also ruined Kwaito. “I think it was 12yrs ago…just like house [DJs] on radio who killed Kwaito, but [then] no one knows or want(s) to hear it. Skill and talent will remain pity [about] the double standards of the management which some males in radio [have] enjoyed but now are victims of. It’s reaping time,” says Penny Lebyane.
The media personality went on to say that she is not trying to compete with anyone for popularity in the radio industry, it was about her own journey. She also says that she doesn’t need anyone’s approval because she believed in herself. “It was never a popularity contest & it won’t start today. It’s my life, my journey, my walk, my work, my truth. I don’t need your approval of me. I accepted myself when [you] believed the lies about me,when I was marginalized I mastered to stand alone. When I was reject I loved me,” says the media personality.
