Philippi East police members were busy with crime prevention actions today, as the convoy drove through Acacia Park they spotted a suspicious man. Upon searching the male, they confiscated a pistol with ammunition .The 40-year-old man was arrested and detained as he was not in possession of a valid licence to be in possession of the mentioned firearm.
Once charged, the suspect is expected to make a court appearance in the Athlone Magistrate court on a charge of possession of a prohibited firearm and ammunition.
