Gqeberha K9 unit arrested two suspects following the murder of an 87-year-old man - Eastern Cape

Police apprehended a 36-year-old male for attempted murder at  Choppies Supermarket corner King George and De Villiers Street on the 07th of June 2021at 15:00.

It is alleged that suspect shot a 34-year-old male security guard in the lower body inside the shop. Victim was taken to hospital by an ambulance.

Victim was in full uniform working (as a security guard) standing at the entrance of the shop. Suspect came with his crew to collect money; he was carrying a rifle and stand some few meters away from them. He fired one shot and hit the victim. Security guard allegations is that victim with his colleague who was sanitizing people coming inside the shop were looking suspicious as if they were going to rob them.

Firearm was confiscated and taken to ballistic testing. Investigation is underway and suspect will appear soon in the Johannesburg Magistrate Court.
