Convicted racist Vicki Momberg was set to appear at the Randburg Magistates Court in August. However, she did not appear and she’s now believed to be in hiding. The police are currently tracing her. She was was discovered to be guilty of four counts of crimen injuria.
The then real estate agent was discovered to be guilty after she called a black police official the derogatory k-word 48 times when the official came to help her after a smash-and-grab instance that happened in 2016. The video of the racist rant made rounds on the internet. In 2018 March, Vicki Momberg was given two years in jail, with an extra one year suspended.
Her bail application was accepted as they were waiting for the results of her sentence and conviction. Vicki Momberg’s bid to avert from being jailed was not successful. The lady was given 30 days to hand in an appeal to the Supreme Court of Appeal and her bail was thus expanded. She was cautioned by Judge Thifhelimbulu Mudau that if she is not successful in coming to the Supreme Court of Appeal, she would have to give herself to the clerk of the court to serve the outstanding sentence.
Brigadier Mathapelo Peters, the police spokesperson, acknowledged that the police officials are attempting to trace the former real estate agent. “Police have since on numerous occasions visited two addresses, one in Bedfordview and the other in Krugersdorp, with the last visit as recent visit as this past week, and Ms Momberg was not at either of these addresses,” says Brigadier Mathapelo Peters. Sunday Times reports that the warrant of arrest for Vicki Momberg was delivered on the 1st of August after she wasn’t successful in bidding to the appeal to the two year sentencing and the conviction of crimen injuria.
