Police Department Investigates Viral Video Of Police Officer Refusing To Help Lady In Cell. The police department has started an internal examination at the Midrand police station.
The police department has started an internal examination at the Midrand police station. The department is examining after a video of a police official who didn’t want to help a mother that had kid and was begging for help in the cells made rounds on the internet. The official was alleged to have been drunk, according to a person that posted the video.
The video recording portrays the police official denying to check up on the lady who was in a cell with a child. The person who posted the tweet says, “When I asked [him] to help a woman, with a child in the cell shouting “Help Officer, help”. No one was interested.” The officer can be heard saying that if the woman passes away he will write that in the books. He then says at the court they will take a decision.
Brigadier Mathapelo Peters, the Gauteng police spokesperson, says a supposedly urgent examination into the matter has been started, even though there was no formal complaint about it. She also asked the person that took the video to make contact with the management at the Midrand at police station. “While at this point the police have received no complaint relating to a video clip circulating on social media, the provincial commissioner, Lieutenant General Elias mawela has sanctioned an urgent internal investigation to establish the facts surrounding clips,” says Brigadier Mathapelo Peters.
