Police interventions aimed at a safer environment for the community resulted in the arrest of two armed suspects. Members of Manenberg police were conducting a stop and search operation yesterday when they noticed a group of males under suspicious circumstances. The group was approached and the men were searched. One of the men was in possession of an unlicensed firearm and was arrested. The 38-year-old suspect is expected to make his court appearance in Athlone once he has been charged.
In an unrelated incident during the early hours of this morning members of Flying Squad reacted on information and arrested a 19-year-old suspect with a handmade firearm also referred to as a zip gun in Scottsdene, Kraaifontein. The suspect is scheduled to make his court appearance in Blue Downs on Friday, 20 August 2021.
