Police Officer Arrested For Allegedly Selling Guns From Police Station. The 34-year-old female officer was apprehended on Tuesday by the Hawks and Crime intelligence.
A police officer from Free State was set to appear in court on Thursday for allegedly planning to have people steal weapons from the unit she is in. The 34-year-old female officer was apprehended on Tuesday by the Hawks and Crime intelligence. The woman was reportedly charged on the basis of conspiracy to commit armed robbery, theft and corruption.
The police official allegedly encountered a person and told them that she has financial issues, thus also telling the person that she has guns for purchase, according to Warrant Officer Lynda Steyn, the Hawks spokesperson. Undercover officials encountered with her and acted as if they wanted firearms. She thus allegedly provided them with her police gun and instructed them to head to the police station.
She allegedly also told them where the weapons are and that they should steal from the police station. The Hawks spokesperson says the undercover officers went out and then came back with the guns they robbed, which were actually their own guns. The woman was supposedly given money for her troubles. Warrant officer Lynda Steyn says“The suspect was ‘paid’ R30 000 for her efforts which on receipt led to her downfall. She was arrested and her pistol, vehicle and cellphone were seized.”
