Police Officers Arrested In Pretoria For Abduction And Extortion. The cops are convicted for human trading, abduction and extortion.
Five cops have been convicted for their reported connection in two cases. The cops are convicted for human trading, abduction and extortion. The South African police spokesperson, Brigadier Vishnu Naidoo, says that this case began on March 27.
Ten Bangladeshi citizens were being illicitly brought into South Africa via Zimbabwe. The Bangladeshi citizens were then abducted by four police officers from the Silverton flying squad. The police officers were using two obvious police cars to abduct the victims on the N1 highway.
According to Brigadier Naidoo, two of the Bangladeshi citizens were freed after their family members paid the money that was asked from them. The two Bangladeshi citizens were released on March 31, four days after the abduction. The police spokesperson says that the police crime intelligence unit worked without rest with examiners to find the four police officers that were involved.
Three out of the four police officers were apprehended at the Silverton police call centre. The fourth police officer has not arrived at work when the other suspects were arrested. Brigadier Naidoo says that the officer will be apprehended in due time. On another case, two police officers were arrested at Mamelodi on Tuesday. The police officers are convicted for reportedly trying to get bribery money from a reported drug dealer.
“A man, allegedly a drug dealer, contacted the SAPS anti-corruption unit and informed them that police members were demanding money from him,” says Naidoo.
The two officers were apprehended at a Silverton restaurant at Tuesday night. One officer was from the Gauteng anti-gang unit and the other officer was a Silverton police officer. Naidoo says the money was retrieved from the two officers.
