On Sunday, 16 August 2020 at approximately 19h30, Gauteng police pounced into a house in Soweto where suspects were busy stripping a car that was stolen in Linden, Johannesburg. Upon searching the premises, police recovered a rifle and a car jammer.
One female suspect was arrested while three other suspects fled from the scene.
Police received information that at a certain house in Orlando East, there was a stolen vehicle.
The police responded swiftly and proceeded to the place.
As they saw the police, the three suspects who were busy stripping Toyota Fortuner jumped the wall and fled.
Police went to the main house and found the partner of one of the suspects and searched the house and the backroom. It is then that a rifle was found.
Preliminary investigation revealed that the Toyota Fortuner was stolen in Linden the same day.
A search for the suspects that are at large has commenced and the arrested suspect is expected to appear at the magistrates’ court soon facing charges of possession of unlicensed firearm and suspected stolen vehicle.
