POTCHEFSTROOM – A 38-year-old man is expected to appear before the Klerksdorp Magistrates’ Court on Thursday, 17 December 2020, for possession of drugs. The suspect’s court appearance came after he was apprehended on Tuesday, 15 December 2020, at Enoch Sontonga Street, Klerksdorp Central Business District (CBD) by members of Stilfontein K9 Unit.
According to information at our disposal, K9 Unit members were doing patrols in the CBD as part of ongoing Safer Festive Season Operations when they spotted a suspicious white Volkswagen Golf. Furthermore, the police stopped and searched the vehicle and discovered mandrax tablets with an estimated street value of R10 380-00. The suspect was arrested and charged for possession of drugs.
North West Provincial Commissioner, Lieutenant General Sello Kwena congratulated the Stilfontein K9 Unit members for their sterling work that resulted in the arrest of the suspect. Lieutenant General Kwena thanked the members for their vigilance and keeping the streets of the province clean. He said that no criminal will be allowed to roam around the streets of the province.
