On 13 April 2022, Durban Central Members were patrolling around Durban Central CBD when they swiftly reacted to a robbery incident and had arrested a 33-year-old suspect for aggravated robbery. The suspect will appear at Durban Magistrate’s Court soon.
On 13 April 2022, at about 12:30, Durban Central SAPS Crime Prevention Unit members were patrolling the Cannongate area in Durban when they heard people screaming. Upon investigation, they observed 4 males in the act of robbing a male on Cannongate outgoing onto the N3 freeway. The suspects fled in different directions. Members pursued the fleeing suspects and 1 suspect was subsequently arrested near the Kenville taxi rank.
This suspect was also in possession of a knife. The complainant positively identified the suspect as 1 of the 4 males who robbed him at knifepoint.
Two cellphones, R120, 00 cash and a bank card that were reportedly taken during the robbery were not recovered.
The suspect was arrested for aggravated robbery and possession of a dangerous weapon and detained at Durban Central Police Station. The okapi knife was seized from the suspect.
The Durban Central station commander, Brigadier Parumasur commended members for their swift response and good work.
