The 2019 South African national squad has been making fans proud since it was chosen for the 2019 netball world cup. The event is taking place at Liverpool in the United Kingdom. The squad has moved itself to the semi-finals when it beat Uganda 67-40 at the Bank Arena in Liverpool. According to reports this is the first since 1995 that the squad has reached the semi-finals. More good news came for the players yesterday (Wednesday) as their sponsor Telkom offered them bonuses if they get gold or silver in the world cup.
The sponsor offered to give the squad R1 Million per player if they win the world cup, while also offering to give them R500 000 per player if they get the silver medal. The netball fans were happy that the girls’ hard work was being recognised. One of the tweeps says, “That’s the kind of motivation our girls need…” One tweep says, “They are really doing the country justice…Go get it girls…”
Some tweeps were that women in sport were finally getting noticed by companies. One tweep says, “That is awesome news. Femalle sport finally getting the recognition they desrve.
