Scoop Makathini went out on YouTube ‘POPcast’ to bash Moja Love For some of its shows. The media personality says some of the channel’s shows misguide black people in South Africa. The channel has trended on social media because of the shows that it broadcast’s that focus on family, relationships and child maintenance.
Some people have state their concern that the show might show black people from a bad side. However, some people commended the show for giving them the content that they wanted. In talks with his fellow hosts, DJ Vigilante, DJ Speedsta and Ms Cosmo on their ‘POPcast’ show, the media personality didn’t like the way some of Moja Love’s shows portrayed black people. He also went on to say that the issue started with shows such as Mzansi Magic’s ‘LoveBack’ and ‘Our Perfect Wedding’.
“This all started with LoveBack and [Our Perfect Wedding’ where people were seen coming out of helicopters with dust everywhere in Hamanskraal. We don’t need those kinds of things…And then now we have a channel called, Moja Love, where everything has been taken a step lower. Instead of making content that builds the nation, it is dilapidating it,” says Scoop Makathini. The media personality went on to say that the public broadcaster has was unsuccessful in teaching Black Africans, which has resulted in other channels taking the responsibility.
The media personality says, “We are at a stage where we need education and entertainment…everything is f***ed up in our society and the one place where we have and impact, television…I find it very whack that we only show one side of African Black lives.”
