Gauteng police officials are on the hunt for three men after the deaths of five customers at a tavern in Johannesburg. The police state that the men were murdered on Monday at the tavern in Eldorado Park. The three men were allegedly wearing balaclavas and forced entry into the tavern.
The South African Police Service statement says, “It is alleged that three armed suspects wearing balaclavas forced entry and stormed into Intaba Tavern, also known as Jabu’s Tavern, near Parkway Drive in Freedom Park. [They] assaulted and robbed the 53-year-old tavern owner of an undisclosed amount of cash and his cellphone.” The robbers were then stated to have shot randomly, shooting seven people. Five of the victims passed away, while one man and one woman were taken to hospital.
The two injured victims were released on Tuesday. The police officials that have been patrolling the place seemed to get out without any harm after random gun shots were allegedly brought in their direction. The police vehicle was also apparently damaged from the shooting. The police are currently looking for the man. “In the meantime, police have also noted with concern a video clip circulating on social media, purpoting to have been captured just after this shooting incident,” says the South African Police Services statement. The police are asking that the person who supposedly got the instance come forward if they hav information.
