An undercover operation held by the Provincial Commercial Crime Investigation Unit led to the arrest of seven suspects and prevented a R2.4 million loss to a logistics company on Wednesday, 25 August 2021.
The operation was held after the logistics company had previously reported a fraud related incident to the value of over R1 million earlier the year. Investigation indicated that a syndicate was placing fraudulent orders for goods from the logistic company. The operation held on 25 August 2021, resulted in three foreign nationals and five South African males being arrested in Bellville after collecting another consignment of goods via fraudulent documentation.
The seven men aged between 27 and 35 will appear in the Bellville Magistrates Court on Monday, 30 August 2021, on fraud charges. The continuous investigation into the syndicate is likely to lead to more arrests.
