The singer’s landlord also took him to court because he didn’t abide to his rent payments. According to information collected by The Blast, R. Kelly was also in trouble with the landlord of his recording studio in Chicago because he didn’t pay his lease. The landlord provided court orders to Sony, the American Society of Composers, Authors and Publishers, and Kelly’s other banks to get what the landlord lost.
The landlord got a ruling of R2 428 920. Kelly is said to have two other bank accounts with Bank of America. R2 106 000 was confiscated by the court as part of the subpoena which leaves R. Kelly with under R8 775. The singer still owes the landholder R702 000. The landholder is asking Sony to take care of the remaining R702 000.
