South Africa Ranked Amongst The Top 10 Most Corrupt Countries In Africa. Transparency International has released the latest ranking of corrupt states all over the globe in 2019.
Transparency International has released the latest ranking of corrupt states all over the globe in 2019. And it seems that South Africa is part of the top 10 states on the African continent. The country was listed amongst other African states such as the Seychelles, Mauritius, Senegal and Cape Verde.
The country was named as the ninth most corrupt country, with 44 percent. The first country on the list was the Seychelles with 66 percent. Botswana came second with a score of 61 percent. With 58 percent comes Cape Verde as the third country and fourth with 53 percent comes Rwanda. Namibia followed as the fifth country with 52 percent. Mauritius followed with 52 percent too on the list. Sao Tome and Principe came seventh with 46 percent. Senegal came eighth with 45 percent.
Ghana follows South Africa as the tenth corrupt country with a score of 41 percent. The level of the corruption ranking would have reportedly been higher if it wasn’t for numerous corruption cases over the past year. This involves the famous ‘State Capture’ case, which ended up in having the former president Jacob Zuma stepping down from his presidential position. Nigeria and Angola are two of the lowest corrupt countries within the top five economies in the African continent.
