HEILBRON – Two suspects aged between 40 and 50 have been arrested after they were found in possession of suspected stolen sheep on Thursday, 28 July 2022 at about 19:00.
Heilbron Visible Policing members were conducting patrols when they received intelligence information about a suspicious vehicle involved in possible theft of livestock.
Members spotted the vehicle on the side of the road facing the direction of Heilbron. Two occupants were found in the vehicle and upon a further search of the vehicle, police recovered livestock, five sheep in total.
Further investigations led police members to the suspect’s place of residence where a carcass of suspected stolen sheep was found in the fridge.
The recovered livestock is estimated to be valued at R25 000-00 and the lawful owner is being sought.
The duo have been arrested and will be charged with stock theft. They are expected to appear on Monday, 01 August 2022 at Heilbron Magistrate’s Court.
