WESTERN CAPE – To ensure that offenders are brought to book, members of the Provincial Integrated Team conducted a joint crime operation with Crime Intelligence members last night in Mbekweni which resulted in the arrest of two suspects. Several identified premises were searched in the area for drugs and illicit goods.
During one of these searches, the members discovered traffic road signs and batteries valued at a substantial amount. The suspect, a 38-year-old man was arrested for the possession of presumed stolen property. Another search led to the discovery of cigarettes and tobacco products with a value of around R5000-00 and R1290-00 cash. The suspect, an 18-year-old man was arrested for contravening the Disaster Management Act by selling tobacco products illegally.
Once charged, the suspects are due to make their respective court appearances in Paarl to face the charges against them.
