WESTERN CAPE – A 27-year-old female will face the court of law after she was arrested for the possession of an unlicensed firearm and ammunition yesterday, 08 March 2022 in Ngcikiza Street, Acacia Park, Philippi East. Members of Philippi East police were busy with stop and search operations when they searched the suspect’s handbag and found a 9mm pistol with ammunition in the bag.
In an unrelated matter, members of the Anti-Gang Unit pursued information this morning, 09 March 2022 and drove to the identified address in Coronation Street, Heinz Park. The members searched the premises and confiscated a shotgun with ammunition. A 42-year-old man has been arrested and detained on a charge of possession of prohibited firearm and ammunition.
Once charged the suspects are expected to make their respective court appearances in the Athlone Magistrate court on the mentioned charges.
