The Parktown Boys’ High Went To The Camping Trip Without Approval, According to Panyaza Lesufi #EnochMpianzi. Panyaza Lesufi publicised on Friday that the headmaster of the school, Malcolm Williams, has been suspended immediately.
One week after the announcement of Enoch Mpianzi’s passing away at a school camp, the Gauteng MEC for education Panyaza Lesufi has stated that the Parktown Boys’ High group of grade 8s went to the venue before they were given permission. Panyaza Lesufi publicised on Friday that the headmaster of the school, Malcolm Williams, has been suspended immediately. The Gauteng MEC for education says the trip was not permitted by the district sector of the Department of Education.
He states that the school persisted on going to the trip even though the application was not finished. The Gauteng MEC of education puts the blame on the headmaster for letting it happen. He states that the authorities in a district sector who did not flag the appeal with the department’s head office would also be suspended with immediate effect.
“The school had made an application to the district to approve the trip. However, the district and the head office had not approved the trip, thus making it an unauthorised, activity. The principal will ne suspended,” says Panya Lesufi. The Gauteng MEC for education says the educators will be given charges individually due to the examination of whether they were negligent at the camp. He went on to say that all water activities in Gauteng have to get approval from the Department of Education’s head office.
