The Provincial Communication and Liaison continue with media engagement across Limpopo - Limpopo

The Limpopo Saps, Provincial Commander of Media Centre Colonel Moatshe Ngoepe visited the Offices of Phalaborwa and Letaba Herald newspapers in the Mopani District on Friday 11June 2021.

The visit was part of the ongoing media and community engagement program initiated in the province.

During the visit, Colonel Ngoepe interacted with editor in chief of the two newspapers focusing on strengthening the working relationship between the South African Police Service and the local media houses in the Province.

There was a consensus that the Police will provide specific positive reports on weekly basis to the two publications as part of feedback to the community in terms of the principles of Batho Pele and to alert and guide the residents to avoid being victims of any criminal activities.

Furthermore, Colonel Ngoepe emphasised that this mechanism of transmitting information about crime through the media is very effective and convenient for everyone because it is easily accessible and can be archived and utilized for reference at specific interventions.

For instance, bullying, use of drugs and carrying of dangerous weapons at school premises. Rape, domestic violence residential and business burglaries can be avoided through the guidelines that are provided in the publications.

This is evident because some of these crimes were reduced through this medium of communication with the public effectively.
